UN World Food Programme (WFP): Support for school feeding programs

Changing emergency rice stock into donation money to support UN WFP school feeding programs
Since 2010, NEC has been driving a new type of corporate citizen initiative involving the participation of employees. Under this initiative, the company provides and sells its emergency stock of rice due to expire in six months in the in-house shops and cafeterias and uses a portion of the proceeds to support the school feeding programs of the UN WFP whose mission is to eradicate hunger and poverty.
NEC received a letter of thanks in 2011 and 2016 from the UN WFP appreciating the fact that the company collected massive amounts of monetary aid through a new form of donation, that is, by changing an emergency rice stock into donation money and thus contributing to society.
