Aligned with the United Nations‘ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), NEC is committed to realizing its NEC 2030VISION by contributing to society through its core business. At the same time, we actively promote corporate citizenship initiatives aimed at addressing social issues over the medium to long term. Guided by the slogan “Think Globally, Act Locally" each and every employee strives to be a responsible corporate citizen.

Our Initiatives

Life

Under the theme of “ Life” which covers our daily lives, we support activities related to social entrepreneurship, pro bono, and inclusion & diversity.

NEC Social Entrepreneurship School

In collaboration with NPO ETIC., we run a program to support and nurture young social entrepreneurs tackling social challenges. Employees contribute their professional skills to help local governments, NPOs, and social entrepreneurs address pressing issues.

NEC Pro Bono Initiative

This program enables employees to leverage their expertise in supporting local governments, NPOs, and social entrepreneurs in overcoming various issues.

High School Sign Language Speech Contest in Japan

We support this contest, which encourages high school students engaged in sign language learning and club activities, aiming to promote sign language awareness and advance welfare initiatives.

TOKYO Mimi College
(Sign Language College)

In partnership with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, we host public-private collaborative events to raise awareness and understanding of hearing disabilities.

Partnership with the Tokyo Voluntary Action Center

Employees participate in volunteer activities focusing on inclusion & diversity, international cooperation, sports, and disaster relief.

Collaboration with the Tokyo Para-Sports Association

Our employees volunteer in large-scale disability sports events, including the Tokyo Metropolitan Sports Tournament for the Disabled, one of the largest in Japan.

Supporting Para Sports

For over 30 years, we have actively promoted para sports, including long-term support for wheelchair tennis.

Asuchare! Academy
(Challenge for Tomorrow Program)

We sponsor this initiative, which promotes inclusion & diversity in society through para sports.

Society

Under the theme of “Society,” where national and local governments operate and economic activity takes place ,we promote disaster relief efforts and initiatives that address community issues.

Activities in Local Communities

NEC Group employees around the world engage in various activities aimed at solving problems facing local communities.

Disaster support activities

We take a multifaceted approach to disaster response, including employee fundraising, volunteer activities, and ICT-driven
Community development projects, both in Japan and abroad.

Food-related activities

As an easily accessible way for employees to contribute, we support children in developing countries through food-related initiatives.

Collection activities

We promote collection activities that employees can easily participate in. The collected items are donated through NPOs to support disaster-affected areas and developing countries.

Environment

Under the theme of “Environment,” which serves as the foundation of all activities, we promote environmental and biodiversity conservation initiatives to foster harmony with the earth. 

NEC Paddy Making Project

This year-round program allows NEC Group employees and their families to experience rice cultivation and sake brewing, fostering environmental awareness and biodiversity conservation.

NEC Living Nature Observation Team in Abiko

With the support of the Teganuma Aquatic Life Research Association, we conduct biodiversity conservation activities on the premises of the NEC Abiko Plant (Abiko City, Chiba Prefecture).
